There are exciting things going on in Evangenital-land, and a LOT of them. This weekend is a Nexus of sorts, with 3 shows happening on one night - none of them Evangenitals shows - yet all of them Evangenital-related! Let me explain...
Evangenitals lead singer Juli Crockett (that's me!) has just landed a new gig singing the June Carter Cash parts in the greatest Johnny Cash tribute band ever - Cash'd Out. (http://www.myspace.com/cashdout) Evangenitals drummer George Bernardo has been drumming with them for the past year, and this Saturday night - April 19th at 11pm - I will having my debut performance with Cash'd Out at the "Belly Up" in Solana Beach, CA. If you happen to be in that part of town, I would LOVE to have some friendly faces in the crowd cheering me on!
Hey folks!
As you may or may not have heard, I'm hosting a day of music on the fringe of the South by Southwest music fest in Austin, TX on March 16th from 3-8pm. (show info can be found here: http://www.evangenitals...
In an effort to make the day more than just a bunch of bands playing (cuz the WHOLE CITY is doing that trick) we wanted to shake things up by inviting some other kinds of acts to jump up on stage and show their stuff... magicians, ventriloquists, contortionists, stand up comedians... anyone who would like to do a short bit in between band set-ups is welcome.
Addi Somekh of Balloonhat.com (he's also the balloon-bassist in the awesome band Unpopable) recently went to a nursing home and made some spectacular balloon hats for the residents.
The experience got edited down and set to some sweet Evangenitals music (song: "Hello" from our new album Everlovin) and then end result is sheer heart-warming goodness.
Wow.
Last night at about 3am I suddenly was inspired to go on a wild "tagging" mission on Flickr. Part of the inspiration came from my discovery of the new features on Blogger which allow you to add slide-shows and videos to your page, based off of keywords. So I jumped on Flickr and went keyword crazy... making sure that I had "The Evangenitals" and "Juli Crockett" on every awesome photo from the Road to Oprah tour that I could find.
I love this poster that the local bands we're playing with tonight made. It's awesome!
Hopefully some of my old friends and family will make it out to the show tonight. It would be great to see everyone again.
After the show, we're off to Satellite Beach High School, driving through the night, for a 9am presentation for The 1 Second Film. Creator/director of The 1 Second Film Nirvan Mullick actually went to high school there, so it should be cool for him to visit his old alma mater and share his story with the kids.
After that we've got a show in the park in Daytona, stopping by the Veterans nursing home for an acoustic set in the morning, then off to Savannah for our gig at the Guitar Bar.
Come out to Brentwood Tavern at 6701 Burnet Road TONIGHT, Thursday October 11th, at 7 PM to see The 1 Second Film's Road to Oprah road show featuring the Evangenitals and learn more about the world's biggest shortest film -- The 1 Second Film -- brought to you by the award winning film maker, Nirvan Mullick.
There will be live music by the Evangenitals and a presentation detailing the collaborative effort to change the world one second and one dollar at a time! Attendees can also take a tour of the unique and spectacular Road to Oprah bio-bus.
Admission is free!!! Everyone is welcome, dogs included!!!
Hiya, partner.
I need your help; or rather your body. :-)
If you be in the Greater Los Angeles area this Saturday night, the Evangenitals would offer you our eternal thanks and many a good character reference for years to come if you would come to see us perform our musical magic at Molly Malones at 11pm.
You see, this show is what is called a "great opportunity" in that "business" called "showbizzness".
The booker at Molly Malones also books for a bunch of other clubs on the western side of Hollywoodland, and this is our first and last chance to make a first impression.
It seems when a band ventures over to Hollywoodland, the band must "draw" at least 20 people in order to not be considered a "catastrophe" by the club owners.
This weekend I really wished that I had some 1 Second Film producer materials and a videocamera on me, as I found myself staring at a triple-threat celebrity opportunity to convert some more folks to the great cause of the 1 Second Wonderfulness.
Last week I had gotten an email invite from Environment California (one of the many environment/animal rights/superfriends peace on earth for All groups I belong to) to go to a panel discussion called "Sustainable LA" this past Sunday that was part of the Silverlake Film Festival.
