Hi, my name is Nirvan. I'm the director of The 1 Second Film, and keep this blog as a production journal. We also have an open Producers Blog and a collection of perfect moments.
Yesterday, completely by random, I ran into Kiefer Sutherland who was with some friends at a bar. I went up and pitched The 1 Second Film and 10 minutes later we had raised a combined $650 for our film! Kiefer donated $600.23 making him our current #8 Top Executive Producer. Why $600.23? I'm not sure; but I think it has something to do with saving the world... and "the future!!!" Check the check for clues. If Kiefer is still in our Top 11 when the film is done, he will get a title-credit appearing before The 1 Second Film begins. If anyone would like to be listed on top of Mr. Sutherland (and enter the running for a title-credit) just donate $600.24 or more. Needless to say, having Kiefer Sutherland in our Top 11 could be another big little moment for our production.
Kiefer Sutherland, Executive Producer

Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Tiexiera, and Rickett produce 1 second films.
Here is how this absurd thing happened: My friend Rebecca and I stopped into an awesome little Korean restaurant to get a seafood pancake and some kimchi. At the time, we were the only people there. Fifteen minutes later, two men walked in and sat at the bar. Rebecca recognized one of them as Kiefer Sutherland. That's the point where I start getting nervous, cuz I know I'm going to have to go over and interrupt their conversation at some point, and probably make a fool of myself. I dislike doing that, but I'm getting used to it.
We decide to finish our food first to put it off as long as possible. Then two more people enter the bar; they seem to all be friends. Small town. Now there are four people to interrupt, which makes it even more intimidating.
After finishing our kimchi, I gathered my bag of 1 second film stuff I carry in case of moments like this; fliers, clip-board, lenticular-cards, portfolio, hint mint tins, etc. Then Rebecca and I walk over and stand nearby until the group pauses their conversation and turn toward us. Michael, the man who walked in with Kiefer, introduced himself first; he was very friendly and I think has a lot of experience with these sort of encounters. After a brief introduction, I dig some fliers out of my bag. As soon as I mention The 1 Second Film I hear one of them say: "Oh, I'm already an Associate Producer of that!" Well, that really broke the ice, and everything flowed easily from there.
Our Associate Producer in the mix was Rickett, a music-video director I met at a party a ways back; he had donated $1. Crazy coincidence. I guess it's true that in Hollywood, it's all who you know. But with The 1 Second Film having thousands of producers, I never know who I know. There was time to explain the project in detail and everyone was into it. Turns out Kiefer is a supporter of the arts; he hosted a collaborative art party similar to our painting event at his studio for a bunch of painters that didn't have a space. On the guerilla marketing/film side, he had just finished a documentary called I Trust You to Kill Me about launching an indie band in unconventional ways, without big corporate industry backers. So he was really supportive of what we are doing and how we are doing it. I invited them all to become Producers for as little as $1. Michael noted that Kevin Bacon had donated $10. I explained that every penny helps. Kiefer started writing a check. I was floored when I saw how much he donated. As he filled out his check he commented that he couldn't remember the last time he physically wrote "twenty-three cents" by hand. Absurd. I'm really glad I went up to them.
I gave Kiefer one of our limited-edition lenticular cards for Executives who donate above $500, as well as some business cards for him to pass out to friends. Kiefer also autographed a tin of Hint Mints for us, so we will see how much that raises as well:
Kiefer's tin of autographed Hint Mints will be auctioned off for charity.
In addition to Kiefer Sutherland, we have another new Executive Producer named Hunter Ryan:
Hunter Ryan, Executive Producer
At 7 years old, Hunter is one of our younger Executives. He donated $103.52 on-line (with the help of his mother, Hollie, who is also one of our Producers). Hunter is from Florida where he attends an acting school for kids called Kids Kasting Kids. They are all actively supporting various charities and good causes, and we have reports that several of the kids are currently writing and storyboarding skits for videos they are going to make about The 1 Second Film. That sounds so unbelievably awesome. More to come. For everyone who has been e-mailing, our e-mail had been messing up after we switched servers. We are working on it. Meanwhile, thanks for all the continued support, and please keep spreading the word. best to all, n
Wow the beast makes a blog entry with Kiefer Sutherland...2 cool. One week to filming day and the kids are definately showing us what good writers they are. The Kids are also really looking forward to telling us parents what to do when directing thier shots. Hunter is still working on getting the special Black Producer T-Shirt for getting 10 other producers to join. Challenge to other producers to beat Hunter's current referals of 4.
Thanks Hollie- can't wait to see what our young producers do as directors. Cheers.
[...] Here is some video of Kiefer Sutherland sharing his perfect moment to make into a one second film. He also donated $600.23 to become our Executive Producer. Apologies for the low quality audio/video; I feel lucky we grabbed any footage at all. This was a totally spontaneous and absurd encounter. For a recap, visit this blog post from two weeks ago. Kiefer was totally awesome. He was really supportive of the independent and collaborative nature of this project. [...]
