What is a Producer Profile?

Each producer of The 1 Second Film receives a Producer Profile on our website. The profiles allow our producers to share information and ideas with one another and to participate in our collaborative community. Each producer can administer his or her own profile and receives a blog as well as the ability to post in our forum and comment throughout our site. As our project develops, we will continue to empower our producers with more features, including the ability to upload content that can be used in our documentary, and the ability to add other producers as friends to build personal networks and facilitate further collaboration.

How do I get a Producer Profile?

To get a Producer Profile, simply donate $1 or more to our non-profit production. To donate, first register for a producer account on the1secondfilm.com. It is free to register. Once registered, you can donate money to your producer credit either on-line or by mail. You can also allow other people to donate to your producer credit, so even if you do not have $1, you can help fundraise by asking other people to donate to your account. Once $1 or more is deposited into your producer account, your Producer Profile will appear on our website; you can then collaborate with our production and contribute ideas and even content to our film. Each of our producers’ names will appear in our film’s 70mm credits listed in order of amount donated.

How do I activate/validate my profile?

A profile is only activated after the e-mail given during registration is validated. Check your inbox for your account validation e-mail. The e-mail contains a link; follow this link, or copy and paste it into your browser to activate your profile. If you registered for a friend, you must contact them to make sure they activate their profile. If you don't find our e-mail in your inbox, check recent junk mail as it may have been labelled as spam. You can also regenerate another validation e-mail by logging in and visiting your profile. Once your accont is validated, your profile will be published.

What is the Producer ID#?

Each of our Producers is given a unique Producer ID number at the time they register. The Producer ID# reflects the chronological order in which each producer became involved in our production and is used to track participation and referrals. To find a specific Producer’s ID # search for the producer name and check their producer profile page.

What do the little icons that appear next to producer names mean?

The little icons indicate what type of profile and content the producer has. A little green icon indicates that the producer has an ‘open credit.’ Anyone in the world can donate to an open producer credit. Little grey icons indicate a ‘closed credit’ that only the individual producer can donate to. If a square outline appears around the icon, this indicates that the producer has uploaded a picture to their producer profile. In the future, more icons may appear to indicate other content.

Can I add more money to my Producer credit?

Yes! You can add $1 or more to your producer credit at any time up until we stop fundraising. With every penny added to your producer account, you will be helping our production and your name will move up our producer list. We will continue fundraising until we have reached a tipping point; we will then lock our end credits to complete post-production. We will announce the deadline to donate once it is determined. If we happen to raise more than we need to complete our film, all surplus donations will be donated to charity. Once we lock our end credits, you will no longer be allowed to become our producer or to add money to your producer credit.

Can other people add money to my Producer credit?

Yes, if you choose to allow other people to add to your producer credit, then anyone in the world can donate to your producer credit directly from your producer profile page. Producers can control this setting at any time from their profile account. Allowing others to donate to your credit is a fun way to move up the producer list while helping our production fundraise. Everyone who donates to your producer credit will appear in your donation history.

Can I add money to someone else’s producer credit?

Yes, you can add money to any ‘open’ producer credit. Open Producer credits have a small green icon next to their name and will have a donate button on their producer profile page. Simply visit that producer’s profile page and donate $1 or more. Be sure to log in before you donate so that your profile information will appear in that producer’s donation history. A record of the producers you have donated to will also appear in your donation history on your producer profile page.

How do I allow other people to donate to my producer credit?

You can choose to allow others to donate to your producer credit when you register for your producer account. You can also change this setting at any time by logging in to your producer profile and changing your account settings. If you choose to allow others to donate to your credit, a green icon will appear next to your name indicating that your credit is ‘open’. You can then forward your producer profile page to friends and family, and they will be able to donate directly to your producer credit. Become one of our Top 11 donors and you will receive a title-credit appearing before The 1 Second Film begins!

Can I buy multiple producer credits?

Yes, but each producer account must have a unique e-mail address and is subject to our terms and conditions. You can create a producer credit for yourself, for your business, or even for a friend, your school, a place, or a concept. You can not create a producer credit for copyrighted or trademarked entities that you do not control.

Do you keep track of Referrals?

Yes, we rely on word of mouth to grow. One of the biggest ways our producers help is by promoting our project to friends and family. Producers who make referrals will be given participation points for referrals; these points will be used to track our most active producers and will be able to be exchanged for things like free t-shirts and/or tickets to the world premiere. We are still building our participation point system; but for now, please be sure to have anyone you refer enter your Producer ID# at the time they donate. Thanks!

How do I upload a picture?

This is something that is still evolving We hope to make it very simple for our producers to upload multiple pictures, video, and audio directly to their producer profile. For now, our producers can only upload one picture to their producer profile. Producers can also upload pictures to Flickr and link to them on their producer blog and/or add them to our Flickr group. For videos, we currently have a YouTube group for producer videos promoting The 1 Second Film. Keep a high quality copy of all content submitted so that we can use it in our documentary. As our production and resources grow, we hope to allow more content to be uploaded and stored directly on our website. But for now, we are still building our website while keeping production costs as low as possible. If you have specific questions about uploading content please post them in our forum.

How do I link to a video?

Our site currently only allows videos to be linked from YouTube. You can embed video into your Producer Profile or add video to your Producer Blog. To have a video appear on your profile, upload your video to YouTube and then edit your producer profile video account settings; add the YouTube URL and your video will appear. Post a notice in our forum that you have added a video so we can check it out. Videos that have been reviewed and approved receive a red video icon next to the producer name (instead of a gray video icon). To add video to your Blog, simply copy the YouTube embed code and paste it into your post.

Can I add other Producers as ‘friends’ to my Producer Profile?

Soon. We are working on adding this feature to our website’s functionality. Producers will then be able to add one another to their individual crew list. We are still building this website from the ground up.

Can I upload more than one picture to my Producer Profile?

This feature will be coming soon. For now you can only upload one picture to your Producer Profile. If you have other pictures, send them to our Flickr Group and/or post them in your producer blog!

How do I become a Producer of the Moment?

To become a Producer of the Moment, fill in your profile bio, and upload a cool picture of you promoting The 1 Second Film in your part of the world. Then post a request in our POTM Porducer Forum and we will add you to the POTM pool.

I donated before the donation system was automated, how do I access my Producer Profile?

Our producers who donated before our website was automated were each given a Producer Profile when we built the Drupal website; if we had a unique e-mail address for you, a password was generated and e-mailed to you. You can change this password at any time by logging into your producer profile. If you have not been able to log in to your account, try having a new password sent to the e-mail address that you gave us when you donated. If you have changed your e-mail, or if we did not have your e-mail address, please contact us. Tell us your name and when/how you donated and we will hook you up. We really appreciate the 6,700 intrepid producers who contributed to this project back in the day.

Aspiring Producer Profile Answers

What is an Aspiring Producer?

An 'Aspiring Producer' is an individual who has registered to becom a producer of The 1 Second Film, but has not yet donated. Aspiring Producers have limited privelages on our website, but they can choose to allow others to donate to their credit, and are given a limited profile. Once $1 or more is donated to the credit, the profile switches to a full Producer Profile, is given a Producer ID#, and the producer name is added to our credit list.

What can an Aspiring Producer do?

Aspiring Producers can:

• donate on-line to become an official producer.

• allow other people to donate to your credit. Simply validate your account, login, and change your profile preference settings to an 'open credit.'

• forward your Aspiring Producer profile URL to friends and family who can then donate directly to your credit!

• donate by mail; be sure to include your Aspiring Producer ID#.

Aspiring Producers can not:

• Aspiring Producers do not get to display producer profile information, including a bio, web links, photos, or a video.

• Aspiring Producers do not get a producer blog.

• Aspiring Producers can not leave comments with other producers or post in our forum.
