The 1 Second Film is the flagship production of The Collaboration Foundation, a non-profit arts organization devoted to building innovative platforms for global collaboration.
Once finished, all profits raised by The 1 Second Film will be donated to the Global Fund for Women, a non-profit grantmaking organization that supports women's human rights around the world. Money will be raised by auctioning the original animation artwork, and by selling DVDs and collectible ancillary merchandice.
Future productions of the Collaboration Foundation will address and support other social issues. For more details, please read our 5 Phase Plan.
Our long-term goal is to bring people around the world together with art, building cultural bridges while inspiring social-change.
*The Global Fund for Women is an independent non-profit organization, and is not responsible for the views or content of The 1 Second Film.
International Women's Day
The 12 frames of animation that create The 1 Second Film were painted at California Institute of the Arts on March 8th, 2001 (International Women's Day). The subject matter of the animation/paintings provides an artistic platform for addressing the depiction of women and sexuality in the media.
Art can provide a powerful platform for expression and dialogue. Each frame of The 1 Second Film had its own artistic director, allowing multiple perspectives framed around a single moment. How much can happen in one second? And what exists beyond the frame of a single moment?
