MikeB took some really nice pics of our live Vote-a-Thon for the Collaboration Foundation and posted em to our flickr set: E Vote-a-Thon Flickr Set

The Evangenitals, tunin up, gettin ready for the go.

Stayed up late putting together a newsletter that I'm about to send and setting up our Ustream Channel. We have some fun plans today to get out the vote for the $10K Ideablob contest. Of course, who knows what will happen. Especially on such little sleep...below is the newsletter I'm about to send out... it's 5am. These banners don't design themselves! :)
We're in 2nd Place... Last Chance to Vote! Our non-profit, The Collaboration Foundation is currently in 2nd in a down-to-the-wire race to win the $10,000 Ideablob Grant. We need 200 votes to catch the leader, with only 1 day left! Can you help? It's for a great cause! Please take a sec to vote on-line now. DIY DaysSubmitted by nirvan on July 27, 2008 - 4:08pm. collaboration | community | diydays | events | film festivals | ideablob | ideas | marketing | movies & entertainment | social-change | technologyWoke up at 6am for some reason. That means the blood in the brain isn't sleeping. Started workin on the puter. emailing ideablob links and coding. Day passed. kept forgetting to eat, lost in pixel dust. Checked twitter, and saw a tweet from Mickipedia about DIY Days. I'd completely forgot! Grabbed some Ideablob flier strips, hopped on bike, and peddled to the cornfield gallery. Wandered into a large garage space full of steamy air and filmmakers dripping with ideas. This free event was put together by a bunch of really smart filmmakers who have explored the new nooks and crannies of self distribution, self- funding, and just getting things done. every story was unique, organic to their films personaliy, and their own. i missed most of the day, workin away in my cave. but really enjoyed what i saw. one of the organizers, Lance Weiller really was amazing. i had not heard of or seen his films, but his ideas (and execution of) for getting his work out there was absolutely brilliant. Head Trauma. I need to watch and explore it when i get time. Watch for video of his talk on DIY Days. street canvasingSubmitted by nirvan on July 25, 2008 - 1:39am. ideablob | marketing | on the street | production notesToday I hit the streets for the first time in a long time to try and get out the vote for the Ideablob contest. Seems most of the work I've been doing has been web design, accounting, and other computer related tasks, so I was looking forward to being out in the real world again. The idea was to take the bus around town, talk to people, and ask for their vote. I made some paper-strip fliers and xeroxed them this afternoon, took a trip to Burbank to get our gear from the office, and got back to the bus to meet Marcin, Arlene, and Levi, who joined me for the trek. Together the 4 of us set out to the Silverlake area where we canvased the street for an hour or two, handing out fliers and talking to folks we met about the Collaboration Foundation and the Ideablob contest. People were generally really positive and a lot of folks said they would vote. A few even signed up to be producers :) The Future of Collaborative Art and Politics?Submitted by nirvan on March 13, 2008 - 5:14pm. art | collaboration | marketing | politics | social-change | technology
Political views aside, from a strictly grassroots marketing point of view, I'm really blown away by some of the creative innovation i'm seeing around the Barack Obama campaign. Probably most of you have seen the Yes We Can video remix of this Obama Speech. It was made independent of Barack's campaign by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas who felt inspired, got some people together, and made it happen. I don't think this is supposed to be plugsville...Submitted by acomputerpro on February 8, 2008 - 11:27pm. acomputerpro | film | marketing | movie | twitterI was pleasantly enjoying being at the top of the producers 'blog for the past two days, when I was taken out by annoying "party announcements." I thought this is supposed to be the place where we producers could discuss storyboard ideas, day for night shooting, equipment rentals and obtaining the proper 1 second filming permits. We don't have time to party... WE have a 1 second film to make, dammit! -gj (acomputerpro) PS: Check me out on Twitter. I'm acomputerpro ;) Sundance Day 2: Pierce Brosnan, Todd Oldham, Bob Odenkirk, and 100s more... a surreal daySubmitted by nirvan on January 23, 2005 - 5:12am. bob odenkirk | celebrity | film festivals | fundraising | funny | marketing | photos | producers | sundanceWell, after what I thought was a surreal Day 1, which included sneaking into our Associate Producer David LaChapelle's party, we had an even more absurd Day 2. First of all, I didn't know where I was going to stay. By chance, I ended up running into my good friend Noaz Deshe from LA. Noaz is one of our Associate Producers and was at Sundance filming a project with Bob Odenkirk; they were being put up by the Sundance Channel at a giant 3 story condo. Noaz checked with Bob, who was totally cool with letting me sleep on their couch. Then I got to show Bob The 1 Second Film and some of my animated shorts. Bob really liked the concept and came on board as an Associate Producer (with the goal of moving up later). He also interviewed us for the segment he was shooting for the Sundance Channel, so maybe we will get a little exposure. pre-sundance danceSubmitted by nirvan on January 14, 2005 - 4:24am. film festivals | fliers | marketing | sundanceSundance is in 10 days and i still have no idea how i'm going to get there. nor do i have any place to stay... The rough plan is to meet Craig out there and then find a place to stay and sell some producer credits. sort of a repeat of Toronto. But this time, not only do we have no credentials, we also have no place to stay. I'm a little anxious about the trip, especially because i am being evicted and need to find a new place to live and then move as soon as i get back from Sundance. if i even go... but of course im going. im sure something amazing will happen if we just show up.
